Words, thoughts and feelings by Roshan Singh of Smoky Carrot…
So there it is, 2010 is soon to be a distant memory as 2011 looms over our shoulder like a bad debt. All in all it has been a fun year, and for someone like me who thinks fun is fun, that makes it a good year. Smoky Carrot Records released 10 records in 2010, which considering our age, size and resource is pretty impressive. Yes I am impressed with myself, I am happy to admit that, I impressed with us all; Benny, Paul and Pete who make up the SCR team, good effort!

My highlights of this year:
So in between moaning about there not being any snow, then there not being enough snow, and then that there was far too much, I haven’t really had time for much else. The time has come however for some kind of end-of-year list, and whilst I normally love lists, after the mental torture of Christmas shopping I had to endure this year, I don’t think writing one is good for my sanity right now. SO! Instead, here are some random highlights of 2010 that popped in to my head just now. AND! Some special guests are going to pick some too at a later date! HOW EXCITING!!
With the massive glaring neon exception that is Christmas, I detest winter. I hate being cold, I hate going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark, I hate that it makes everyone look transclucent and gross, I hate winter clothes and I especially hate “layering”. So this post is about easing the transition from happy, lovely, warm Summer to sad, bitchy, cold Winter through the medium of sounds.
I barely know what to say, except if there was anything meant to make you excited about an already exciting band, this’ll do it.
Let the count down to 01.11.10 begin.
clearly as good a photographer as I am a writer...
God I’m actually embarrased by my own terrible terrible title. Moving on…
There’s a band called Films of Colour who I happen to like a lot and they have made a perfect pop song named ‘Actions’ which has been going round in my head for weeks and driving me crazy but in a mental-good way, I don’t mean that I’ve been licking staplers again. The great news is that it’s out this week on iTunes and such like, so you can join me in listening to it on repeat, although tasting office stationary while doing so is optional (APPARENTLY).
